Preschool children releasing butterflies!

This week, the classroom butterflies emerged from their chrysalises. The children watched the metamorphosis life cycle of a butterfly occur right before their eyes! The classes then released the butterflies back to nature and wished them the best of luck as they flittered away.

4 baby chics born at Children’s Village Preschool

For the last 3 weeks the children have been watching the chic eggs in the incubator and this week they got to see them hatch! Today they came out to the grass and spent some time with the chldren.

NAEYC Week of the Young Child part 2

A few more pictures from NAEYC’s Week of the Young Child at Children’s Village Preschool of Orange.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the children got messy and explored paint with fly swatters, plungers and even painting on a sheet! They also felt goop in a tub, jumped on bubble wrap on the ground and explored shaving cream mixed with colored paint on a table.

Thursday, we celebrated the Week of the Young Child by having a Crazy Hair/Hat Day! Teachers and children added colors to their hair and wore silly hats.

Today we wrapped up the Week of the Young Child, we showed our school spirit by wearing green or our Children’s Village t-shirts. The school was a sea of green and smiles!

Thanks to all the parents for helping, you help make us the best preschool in the Orange County!

Week of the Young Child

April 15^th – 19^th. Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association. The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children, their families and to recognize the early childhood programs providing services to them. We will have a week full of fun activities and themes for the children, today was Silly Dress Day (mismatch colors, clothes and socks, backwards clothes, etc. )

Reminder of the special days this week.

Tuesday: Pajama Day & Art & Sensory Workshop (Messy Exploration!)

Wednesday: Pajama Day & Art & Sensory Workshop (Messy Exploration!)

Thursday: Crazy Hair and/or Crazy Hat Day

Friday: School Spirit Day (School-T-Shirt or The Color Green)

Zoomars Preschool Field Trip

Rooms 6, 3, 1, and 5 went on a field trip to Zoomars in Orange County! We received a basket of carrots and entered the bunny and guinea pig pen. We held, pet and fed them. Then we visited the goat and sheep pen. The animals were very eager to eat the carrots from our hands! Lastly, we rode a train with our friends and observed the llamas, ostrich, and horses. We had a fun time getting up close and personal with the animals!

Room 3 Preschoolers Exploring with Flubber

During one of our hands on science activities, Room 3 created a substance called “Flubber”! The children mixed Borax, water and glue together, which results in a squishy, pliable substance. The children explored the consistency by stretching and molding the “Flubber”. Math, science, sensory and fine motor development all mixed into one exciting activity!
